    WHO AM I: Sept. 8, 2017

    WHO AM I: Sept. 8, 2017

I was recently asked by a spiritual advisor/life coach/friend about the most important question I could ask myself. I told her I wasn’t sure. She said it should be, “Who am I?” Not who am I going to be (about which I often think and how I often answer this question), but who am I now. I started to think of all the labels. I’m a dad. I’m a husband. A brother. I’m a writer. I’m a speaker. I’m this. Or I’m that. But that's not what she meant. And I knew it. She wanted me to dig deeper.

This week, we dig deeper and find:

    • A surprising video about actor(?) Jim Carrey
    • The power of a promise
    • Inspiration from a young athlete
    • A modern day love story
    • ...and the power of surprising hugs

    GO WRITE A LETTER: 7/28/17

    GO WRITE A LETTER: 7/28/17

There was a time when I regularly wrote letters. Handwritten. I even had custom cards made (and not just the typical stationery with my name on top...I'm talking supremely custom art, etc.). Long story short, I let the habit get away from me. So, let's explore:

    • Why Letter Writing is Good for You!
    • A Challenge to Extend an Olive Branch
    • The Best Story Ever Told by a 93-Year Old
    • The Greatest Job in the History of Jobs
    • And the Work of a Most Excellent Kid

    It's all in here...

    SEE BEYOND POSSIBLE: 7/14/17
My kid is 11, and while it's probably cliché to go on and on about how I'm learning more from him than he is from me, I think it's more true than not. Especially these days. Recently, he's been showing me that anything really is possible.

    THE ABCs OF ROUTINE: 6/30/17
It's important to have a morning routine. Richard Branson swears by it. Science supports it. I'm far more susceptible to feeling down and depressed when I skip out on mine.
    • Meet an amazing kid who is overflowing with compassion and love
    • See the great work some brands are doing to weave purpose into their messaging
    • Get inspired by a Beatles cover of "Let It Be"

    WHAT'S YOUR STORY?: 6/16/17

    WHAT'S YOUR STORY?: 6/16/17

For more than five years I talked about creating something bigger out of A Day Well Lived. "Someday, I'm gonna..." became my rallying cry. I was gonna start a weekly newsletter. Or develop more merchandise. Or give away more money. Or, or, or... Only, I never rallied. I had plenty of excuses, but not enough action. I had become addicted to my story.

This Week, We Learn How to Change the Story:

    • How to Overcome Resistance
    • The Importance of Leading with Heart
    • The Greatest Graduation Speeches of All-Time
    • Watch How Luck is the Intersection of Preparation & Opportunity
